Based in Newnan, Georgia, MicroPact’s local courts division handles court case management for superior, magistrate and state courts across the state of Georgia. While credit card processing for court fees and fines and PCI compliance are certainly an important part of court case management, these services aren’t MicroPact’s core competencies.
Recognizing the need to outsource payments to a third party, Lynn Griffies, director of operations of local courts at MicroPact, began searching for a quality payment processing solution with great customer service to fulfill payment requirements. She was quickly referred to Joel Darby, CEO of FivePoint Payments, by the magistrate court in Coweta County.
“Joel has a great reputation for customer support. If he says he’s going to do something, he does it. I don’t have to worry about it!” says Griffies, who reports that the strategic partnership with FivePoint Payments since March 2018 has been a successful one.
“MicroPact is really good at case management, their core competency, and FivePoint Payments is really good at payment processing and being PCI compliant. We provide MicroPact’s customers with a software product that is unique and looks like MicroPact’s own, eliminating our partners need to maintain and manage an entire product line that isn’t in their core DNA,” says Darby.
Going Above and Beyond with Chargebacks and Disputes
In general, not having to keep up with court credit card transactions has provided major relief to MicroPact’s local courts team. “Credit card processing isn’t the most important part of our day-to-day work, but I’m not sure what we’d do without it,” Griffies says.
However, FivePoint not only handles credit card charges, but also chargebacks and disputes. Prior to working with the FivePoint team, every time a chargeback would occur, Griffies would have to provide all of the details, including gathering copies of the original ticket, to its previous payments processor. This time-consuming process created unnecessary headaches for Griffies.
Keeping Up with PCI Compliance
Another service FivePoint Payments offers its strategic partners is PCI compliance. The law states that if you store credit card numbers, you have to go through an audit process, which certainly can be a burden for non-payments-focused businesses. Griffies explains, “Keeping up with the laws and regulations in the credit card space is so niche and particular. By the time you get finished with one audit, it’s time to start the next one!” As PCI compliance is part of FivePoint’s every day, we are happy to shoulder this responsibility for our strategic partners.
Quality Customer Service, Guaranteed
Building strong relationships is one of FivePoint Payments’ key tenets. “We provide all MicroPact team members direct access to all levels of our team via email, text and cell phone. We also provide all of their end users multiple support channels including IVR, ZenDesk tickets, chat and a support center. This allows us to communicate with their end users prior to that customer reaching out to the court, thus reducing call volume to the courts, which in turn makes the courts very happy!” Darby explains.
FivePoint Payments is in it for the long-term with our strategic partners and clients alike and truly “get it” that customer service is of utmost importance. MicroPact has felt that impact. “FivePoint’s customer support, and Joel specifically, takes care of our needs without burdening us with all of the details of what goes into all that. That’s very valuable to us,” notes Griffies.
